📖 About This Campground
Tamarack Flat Campground in Yosemite National Park provides primitive tent camping (no RVs) in a wooded setting down a single vehicle wide paved and then dirt road. 3 miles off Tioga Road this campground offers guests a more natural feel with sites located in a forested setting. Decent privacy between sites the campground can accommodate guests with van campers and truck campers.
Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box. All sites are on a first come first served basis and the campground is open seasonally. Pit toilets are available but no potable water is. Campsites are sprinkled around the campground with no real logical order. Regular passenger cars can maneuver the campground roads but some caution is required due to ruts and bumps When dry the roads are extremely dusty.
Situated at 6,300' the campground is a bit lower than other Tioga Road locations so not as cool at night. This location tends to fill more quickly than others since it is closer to the Valley Floor.
Hiking trails depart this area. In addition cyclists can get a decent workout riding the road to and from Tioga Road (use caution and watch for vehicles)
