Shaefer Creek Campground

Shaefer Creek Campground is a rustic, riverside campsite nestled in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest near Leavenworth, Washington. Situated along the Chiwawa River, approximately 21 miles from Lake Wenatchee, this campground offers a tranquil setting for nature enthusiasts.

• Elevation: 2,500 feet

• Directions: From Leavenworth, head southwest on US-2 West for 15 miles. Turn right onto WA-207 North and proceed 4.4 miles. Turn right onto Chiwawa Loop Road and stay right at the intersection. Then take the second left onto Chiwawa River Road (Forest Road 6200) and follow it for about 15 miles to the campground.

  • $22 per night for a single site

  • $11 per night for an extra vehicle

⚠️ Important Alerts

• Fire Restrictions: As of July 2, 2025, a Stage Two Fire Ban is in effect, prohibiting all campfires and open flame cooking with wood, charcoal, or wood pellets. Propane gas can be used if it has an on/off switch.

• Forest Closures: Due to the Pomas Fire, the Glacier Peak Wilderness, including associated trails, roads, and campgrounds, is closed until October 15, 2025, unless rescinded earlier.
