📖 About This Campground
Chiwawa Horse Campground is a rustic, first-come, first-served facility located approximately 15 miles up Chiwawa River Road (Forest Road 6200) from Leavenworth, Washington. Nestled near Rock Creek and the Chiwawa River, this campground is designed for equestrian campers and offers direct access to two scenic trails: Basalt Ridge Trail #1527 and Rock Creek Trail #1509.

Directions: From Leavenworth, take US-2 North for 15 miles. Turn right onto WA-207 (Lake Wenatchee Highway) and go 4.4 miles. Turn right onto Chiwawa Loop Road, travel 0.4 miles, then stay right at the intersection. Take the second left onto Chiwawa River Road (Forest Road 6200) and follow for about 15 miles to the campground.

๐ฅ Fire Restrictions
As of July 2, 2025, a Stage Two Fire Ban is in effect across all USFS campgrounds in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, including Chiwawa Horse Camp. This ban prohibits campfires and open flame cooking with wood, charcoal, or wood pellets. The exception is that propane gas can be used as long as it has an on/off switch. No smoking is allowed in the open; smoking must be done either in your vehicle or within a building. Fireworks are also prohibited.
