📖 About This Campground
Rapid City Blackhills KOA in Rapid City South Dakota is a nicely landscaped and easy to access RV Park and campground that meets the more demanding requirements of KOA locations. The main drive into the park goes up a slight hill on pavement from Hwy 44. The interior park roads are all packed gravel and campers have options between back in and pull thru RV sites and basic to premium options. The premium sites are concrete pads with patios and have nicer landscaping (they are fancy).
The standard RV sites are set in a series of rows with pull thru and backins. They are a bit compact and would feel tight when the park is crowded (generally only during the busiest weekends).
Rapid City Blackhills KOAย is located in Rapid City and is bordered on the backside by a neighborhood and on the front side with some commercial properties next to the highway. Campers have close access to restaurants and stores with just a short drive in to town (not much within walking distance).
The park has two playgrounds, a nice pool area with hot tub, clubhouse area, small office and store, and all the amenities one would expect from a nice KOA. The park is 30 miles from Mount Rushmore and is a suitable option for overnights from the interstate or to explore the northern Black Hills. If you are nervous about driving a large RV up in the hills this is an excellent option to stay and explore the hills in a standard vehicle.
Tent campers will also find suitable accommodations here with shade structures over the picnic tables and nice grassy areas or dirt areas, depending upon your choice, to pitch a tent. The park also has a large number of cabins available.
