📖 About This Campground

The Cle Elum River Group Site is a spacious, reservable group campground located within the Cle Elum River Campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated at an elevation of 2,300 feet in a mixed-conifer forest, it offers a serene setting for large gatherings, family reunions, or group camping trips. The site is accessible from late May through mid-September, with a nightly rate of $115.

  • Capacity: Accommodates up to 100 people

  • Amenities:

    • Picnic tables

    • Campfire rings with grills

    • Vault toilets

    • Drinking water (via hand pump or spigot)

  • Vehicle Access: Suitable for RVs and trailers up to 40 feet in length

  • Vehicle Parking: Up to 25 vehicles allowed

  • Check-in/Check-out: Check-in at 2:00 PM; check-out by 12:00 PM (noon)

  • Gate Access: A gate combination is required for entry; contact the Cle Elum Ranger Station at (509) 852-1100 โ€“ option 1 โ€“ at least 2 business days in advance to obtain the code


๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Restrictions (as of July 2, 2025)

A Stage Two Fire Ban is in effect across all USFS campgrounds in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, including the Cle Elum River Group Site. This ban prohibits campfires and open flame cooking with wood, charcoal, or wood pellets. The exception is that propane gas can be used if it has an on/off switch. No smoking is allowed in the open; smoking must be done either in your vehicle or within a building. Fireworks are also prohibited.

  • Fishing: Opportunities in the Cle Elum River and nearby reservoir, with species such as rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and kokanee salmon

  • Hiking: Access to nearby trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail

  • Swimming & Water Sports: Activities at Speelyi Beach on Cle Elum Lake

  • Winter Sports: Skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling at the adjacent French Cabin Creek Sno-Park during the winter months
