📖 About This Campground
Buckeye Flat Campground in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park offers 28 primitive tent only camping sites overlooking the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River. The campsites are situated in a shaded setting and follow the natural contours of the area. The trees and contours are the cause for the tent only designation as the campground and roads are tight and narrow. Guests enter Buckeye via a short paved road off the main highway; the road drops steeply down to the campground where campers must make a near 180 turn to follow the one way road.
Can you stay here in a van camper or with a truck camper? Only if it is no bigger than a standard vehicle. Sites have parking for one vehicle only.
Reservations are available during peak seasons otherwise the campground is on a first come first served basis during the remaining open months (it is closed in winter). Located at a lower elevation the campground is warm during the summer and cool in the shoulder seasons. This campground is convenient to the various sights and trails in the area; including the Paradise Creek Trail.
Sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear boxes. Sites are close together but still have good privacy due to the trees and boulders.

Hadn't been here in about 10 yrs was saddened to see how crowded the park had become. In years past there would only be a few sites occupied, one year we even had the whole campground to ourself for a couple of days. I still love the place too many bugs but it's pretty there.
