Soda Spring Campground is a serene, rustic camping destination nestled in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Packwood, Washington. This small, primitive site offers a tranquil retreat surrounded by Douglas fir, western hemlock, and silver fir trees.

  • Campsites: 7 sites suitable for tent camping, pickup campers, or smaller trailers.

  • Amenities:

    • Picnic tables

    • Fire rings with grill features

    • Old-style double vault toilet

    • Information board

  • Water: No potable water available; visitors must bring their own.

  • Season: July through September.

  • Access: Moderately steep single-lane road with occasional pullouts; larger trailers are not recommended.

  • Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

  • Stay Limit: 14-day maximum.

  • Pets: Dogs must be on a leash.

  • Fees: $20 per night; $8 per night for extra vehicles.

  • Soda Spring: The campground is named after a small soda spring nearby, once the site of an old bottling facility; no structures remain.

  • Summit Creek: Located nearby, though not visible from the campground; several dispersed camping sites are available along the creek.

  • Cowlitz Trail #44: Trailhead located within the campground, providing access to the adjacent William O. Douglas Wilderness. Wilderness permits are required and are available at the trailhead.
