📖 About This Campground

Lighthouse Cove RV Park (formerly Shoreline RV Park & Campground) in Crescent City California offers full, partial, and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent camping adjacent to the water in a city managed park. Short and long term stays (maximum stay in any year is 6 months) the park has packed gravel/ dirt roads wit a low speed limit due to dust and pot holes. Sites are flat and relatively level gravel pads with natural grass surrounds. Each site has a concrete patio. Verizon coverage is solid. Located along the harbor there is a seawall between the park and the sand; during low tide there is tons of room for play. Views of the lighthouse are available. Guests can walk directly into town or easily explore the Redwood parks via vehicle from this camp. Situated a short ways off US 101. A city park is located nearby. There are no trees, shade structures, or wind breaks in the RV park and campground. This area is subject to regular winds so come prepared for weather changes. The entrance to the park is located off a small spur road from US 101. Guests checkin at a small office and then enter the park. Near the office is the restroom and shower facility (coded entry very basic and not fancy).

Pretty location with easy access for our large RV. Great views of the lighthouse and access to a small beach within the marina. A short walk or bike ride over to the city playground. Verizon 4G data and phone was solid. We might have returned again based upon the above but will not based upon the following. Someone tried to steal our bikes. We utilize a dual locking bike rack and had a cable lock through the bikes as a visual deterrent. Went out to ride the bikes and found the cable cut clean through. Had our rack been a "normal" rack the bikes would have been gone. Interestingly enough while inspecting the attempted theft a "neighbor" approached and told us that lots of bikes get stolen here all the time. A few other people in town said the same thing that "anything not bolted down is grabbed quickly by thieves". This theft issue most likely applies to all the campgrounds along the harbor area as they are all open and expose your RV to full sight-lines from passerby. Be aware when staying here not to leave anything of value out and unprotected. We reported the attempted theft to office staff. We will not return to this location.

Recently renovated to the tune of $2.2M invested the park is city owned and managed. New utility pedestals were installed and the long term tenants were all evicted. The park now caters to travelers to the area and is a suitable choice to stay near the water.
