📖 About This Campground

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park preserves over 10,000 acres of ancient coast redwoods along the Smith River, near Crescent City, CA. Established in 1929, it is part of the Redwood National and State Parks system, which collectively protects 45% of the world’s remaining old-growth redwoods .​


πŸ•οΈ Camping at Jedediah Smith Campground

  • Location: Situated within the park, nestled among towering redwoods and alongside the Smith River.​

  • Campsites: The campground offers 89 sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and cupboard. Some sites can accommodate trailers up to 21 feet and RVs up to 25 feet (no hookups)

  • Facilities: Restrooms are available nearby; however, there are no electrical hookups.

  • Reservations: Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during peak seasons.Β

  • Hiking Trails: Explore over 18 miles of trails, including the famous Grove of Titans, home to some of the largest redwoods by volume .​

  • Fishing & Wildlife: The Smith River is renowned for its steelhead trout and salmon runs. Visitors may also encounter black bears, deer, and various bird species .​
