📖 About This Campground

Bush Pioneer County Park Campground south of South Bend Washington provides primitive tent and RV camping on a bluff overlooking tidal marsh flats. Managed by the local Native American tribe, the location is home to their headquarters, the campground is available on a first come first served basis and is reportedly free. 10 sites available there are trails down to the ocean side. Out of the way and little known this is a unique spot to camp along US 101. Call ahead to make sure they are open during shoulder seasons. A bit rustic this campground can accommodate larger RVs (but not advised for anything over 35'). Water is available from spigots.

My husband and I went here on our first camping trip when we started dating, so it's sentimental to us... We were planning to camp on the coast but EVERYTHING was totally full, we were about to give up when I saw the little sign with a tent pointing off the highway towards Bay Center and we gave it a shot. Glad we did! It's a VERY small campground, only one small loop. The camp sites are not right on top of each other which is nice. there is a small trail that goes down to a very private feeling beachy cove that reminds me of places I've been to in Hawaii (minus the gorgeous warm clear water hah) The campground has simple public bathrooms that are shared with the adjacent public park, with large fields for playing ball with kids, and a playground. The small house to the right as you enter the park is where the campground manager lives and I believe he only takes cash. We have never had a problem getting a spot as it's a ways off the beaten path. Bay center nearby is a super small town and there is not much to do as far as businesses go. There is a restaurant called "dock of the bay" right before you cross the bridge on the way into town, but your nearest grocery store or gas is up in South Bend

Details are a bit sparse. We know they have 10 primitive camp sites so assume they have restrooms. Best bet is to call them to confirm. Mark
