The Equestrian Campground at Brighton State Recreation Area in Michigan offers horse enthusiasts a well-equipped and scenic environment for camping and riding. Key features include:
  • Campsites : 19 rustic sites suitable for tents and small RVs, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Some sites offer corrals for horse containment.
  • Horse Facilities : Picket posts and corrals are available at select sites, providing secure areas for horses.
  • Water Access : An electric water supply is available within the campground for both campers and horses.
  • Sanitation Facilities : Vault toilets are provided for campers' convenience.
  • Manure Disposal : A manure compost pit is available within the campground.
  • Trail Access : Direct access to 21 miles of well-maintained bridle trails, offering diverse terrain and scenic views.
  • Staging Area : Adjacent to the campground, the staging area includes a pavilion, picnic tables, a vault toilet, a mounting block, picket posts, and ample parking for trucks and horse trailers.
Please note that the campground does not offer Wi-Fi, electrical hookups, or showers. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into the state park. Reservations can be made in advance, and the campground is typically open seasonally from April through October.
