About Steckel Park River View Campground
Steckel Park River View Campground north of Santa Paula California is a county managed park with 10 full hookup RV sites and a number of primitive tent sites in the trees near Santa Paula Creek. Just off Hwy 150 between Santa Paula and Ojai the county park is popular with locals during summer weekends but is otherwise wide open any other day of the week. The full hookup RV sites are situated on a U-loop with concrete pads able to accommodate most any size RV. The limiting factor is the turn at the end of the loop which can be negated by backing down the wrong way to pull into a site. The tent sites are dispersed in an Oak grove providing good shade. The tent sites are on dirt. The park is home to playground and bird sanctuary. Hiking trails follow the creek bed. Nestled in the rolling hills of Ventura County, the park offers a serene and scenic environment perfect for both relaxation and adventure. The campground features 50 campsites, including 10 with full hookups for RVs. Each campsite is equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, ensuring a comfortable stay. The park also provides modern amenities such as restrooms, showers, and a dump station. For those traveling with larger vehicles, the park is big-rig friendly, although some spots might require careful navigation due to low branches and large boulders. One of the unique attractions of Steckel Park is its aviary, home to various bird species, including wild peacocks. This feature makes the park especially enjoyable for bird watchers and families with children. The park also has a creek running through it, providing a picturesque setting and an opportunity for creekside exploration. The creek is particularly full after rains, adding to the park's natural charm. For recreation, the park offers several amenities, including playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and picnic areas. There are also large fields available for group activities and a group picnic area that can be reserved for special events. The park’s hiking trails offer opportunities for wildlife observation and enjoying the natural landscape. Steckel Park’s location is convenient for exploring the local area.
