About Nehalem Bay State Park - Part 1
Nehalem Bay State Park, located on the northern Oregon coast near the communities of Nehalem and Manzanita, is situated on a four-mile sand spit between the Pacific Ocean and Nehalem Bay.
Recreational Activities:
- Camping: The park offers a large campground nestled among shore pines, just a sand dune away from the beach. Facilities include over 265 campsites suitable for tents and RVs, as well as 18 yurts. Reservations can be made through the Oregon State Parks reservation system.
- Hiking and Biking: A forested 1.8-mile-long bike path provides a breathtaking view of the bay, with opportunities to see deer, elk, and a variety of birds. Additionally, a two-mile bicycle trail wraps along the bay shore, and a new half-mile perimeter trail connects with the city trail, allowing riders to reach downtown Manzanita.
- Water Activities: The park's boat ramp provides access to fishing and crabbing on the bay. Kayaking, clamming, and beachcombing are also popular activities.
- Horseback Riding: There is a horse camp with mini-corrals for up to four horses per campsite, and horse trails are available for riding.
- Day-Use Areas: The park features several day-use areas equipped with picnic facilities, a playground, and access to the beach.
- Airstrip: An airstrip is available for visitors who wish to fly in, offering a unique access point to the park.
