Boulder Beach Campground — Virtual Tour
About Boulder Beach Campground
Boulder Beach Campground near Boulder City Nevada in Lake Mead National Recreation Area is a National Park Service Campground (NPS) offering primitive (no hookup) RV and tent camping adjacent to Lake Mead. The large campground is located within walking distance of the dammed Colorado River forming Lake Mead (the Hoover Dam creates the lake). Surrounded by scenic desert vistas the campground is popular during the shoulder seasons (fall and winter) for guests looking to enjoy boating on the lake or exploration in the surrounding desert.
Note that summer camping can be dangerous due to extreme temperatures in this area. In the winter many mistakenly think this location will be warmer than it is (this area is "high desert" and experiences a cool to cold winter season).
Not far from Las Vegas Boulder Beach is rough around the edges and will thankfully undergo improvements in 2017 thru 2018. "Rehabilitation of 73 campsites in Loop D and the northwest section, along with the campground roads, and the sanitation and potable water refill stations. Shade structures will also be added to the group sites."
Boulder Beach Campground is primarily used by short term campers in tents and small RVs looking to enjoy the recreation area. For guests looking for hookups the Lake Mead RV Village, privately operated, is immediately adjacent to this campground.
Lake Mead Recreation Area is a NPS operated park with operational fee entrance stations requiring a significant cost to enter. Plan accordingly.
