📖 About This Campground

Wilson's Riverfront RV Park in Asheville North Carolina provides full hookup RV and tent camping adjacent to the French Broad River and I-26/240. The French Broad River multi-use trail passes through the property allowing for bike rides and walks in a traffic free environment (it is a short walk to the large nearby public park). Note: access to the park is tricky with a tight 180 turn required from the interstate. It is best to pass the entrance and use the RV repair shops driveway to whip a wider U-turn and circle back OR drive down 1 mile to the Citgo and use their area to turn around. All sites are on concrete pads with full hookups. Backin access that easy to navigate with a very wide road way fro maneuvering. Site lengths vary and experience has found that the "quiet" sites are the ones away from the water as they use the hillside for sound suppression. Tent campers are also welcome and can setup camp in a mowed grass area at the end of the RV park. The only issue for tent campers is that they do not have any real privacy and are subject to "looky-loos" walking the public trail. There are a few stairways available to get a kayak or tube down to the river. The stairs are not maintained and a bit treacherous so care is required. During normal flows kayakers are able to paddle up river, against current. Self contained units are best served here. There is a bathroom located near the tent area. A mix of long term and short term guests.

Camping Pro

The four stars for this park is primarily based upon its location alone. It is right on the river and located along the multi-use path just down the street from Carrier Park. There is a constant hum of freeway traffic noise and the occasional trucker jake brake use. The owner is very difficult to reach and if you do reach him very difficult to talk to; just his personality I think. He over-charged our credit card by $24 for our stay and I have been unable to reach him by phone so have been forced to challenge the charge with my credit card company. Verizon cell and data service with 4G is solid and easy access to the area makes this park a decent destination.
