Bodine Field Campground, situated within Wharton State Forest in New Jersey, offers a primitive camping experience amidst the Pine Barrens. Located near the Wading River, it's a favored spot for canoeists and nature enthusiasts seeking a rustic retreat.
Campsite Details:
- Family Sites: 22 tent and trailer sites, each accommodating up to 6 people, 2 tents, and 2 vehicles.
- Group Sites: 7 group sites with varying capacities:
- Sites A, E, F: Up to 15 people and 6 vehicles.
- Sites B, C, D: Up to 25 people and 10 vehicles.
- Site G: Accommodates up to 100 people and 30 vehicles.
- Facilities: Pit toilets and a hand pump for potable water are available.
- Fire Rings: Each site is equipped with a fire ring; however, picnic tables are not provided.
- Access: The campground is accessible via a dirt road; caution is advised due to potential sandy conditions that may challenge some vehicles.
- Reservations: Required for all campsites and can be made through the New Jersey State Park Service.
- Permits: Must be obtained from the Batsto Visitor Center.
- Pet Policy: Pets are prohibited at Bodine Field Campground.
- Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted within the campground.
- Water Activities: Proximity to the Wading River makes it ideal for canoeing and kayaking.
