United Campground

This was a great campground. Although it's only 4 miles from downtown Durango, it's easier to hop on the trolley that stops across the street from the campground and for only $1.00 (50 cents for seniors) it goes into town with multiple stops along the way. The gravel sites are all shaded with big trees, some pull throughs, some back-ins. It's in a valley so there's a great view of the mountains. The Durango to Silverton Narrow Gauge Train goes right through the middle of the campground, tooting its horn before it get there so you can run out and wave to the passengers, or get off the tracks in time. The tracks separate the RV area from the tent area, which is big and grassy and shaded. The campground has a small store, heated pool, game room, coded laundry and restrooms. No fires allowed.
