📖 About This Campground
The Sandy Lake Recreation Area, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is located at the outlet of Big Sandy Lake in northern Minnesota, approximately 13 miles north of McGregor. This historic site is part of the Mississippi Headwaters Project and offers a variety of recreational activities, including camping, boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and hiking. The area is also rich in history, serving as a former fur trading route and featuring a small museum with local artifacts.
