Sam A. Baker State Park, located in the St. Francois Mountains of Missouri, offers a variety of camping options to suit different preferences. Campground 1 is one of the park's primary camping areas, providing a range of amenities for visitors.
Campground 1 Features:
- Campsites: The campground offers both basic and electric sites, accommodating tents and RVs. Some sites are equipped with 50-amp electrical service.
- Facilities: Amenities include drinking water, modern restrooms, a shower house, laundry facilities, and a dump station. These facilities are available during the on-season, from April through October.
- Reservations: Campground 1 is open and reservable year-round. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Parks reservation system.
- Recreation: The park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also popular in the area.
- Equestrian Camping: For visitors with horses, the park provides an equestrian campground with basic and electric sites, drinking water, and a vault toilet. This area is open from March through November.
