We stayed at Pecan Riverside R.V. park and Cabins in March 2019. This is a very pleasant family friendly campground on the San Marcos river. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Full hook ups where good with no issues. There are a lot of trees on the property making for plenty of shade. It is only a short walk down to the river where you can kayak, swim , tube or just relax. If you don't bring your own tubes or kayak there are plenty of places nearby to rent them. The rental places also have shuttle service to pick you up when you are done floating. Pecan Park has an indoor pool and hot tub. With in walking distance of the campground is a winery ( Three Dudes winery) with daily tastings and a beautiful deck on the river to enjoy a glass of wine. With in short driving distance are the HUGE San Marcos outlet malls , the small town of Lockhart (the bbq capital of Texas), Aquarina Springs where you can take a glass bottom boat ride, Stars and Stripes Drive in movie theater, then Austin to the north and San Antonio to the south. The town of San Marcos has many things to do and see too. Although you are near all these attractions it feels country at the campground. We really enjoyed our stay and are planning on returning soon.

This is the second "winter season" that we have stayed. The park is perfectly located about half way between Austin and San Antonio. Owners work hard to keep the park in great shape and are both fair minded people. I ran out of propane one cold morning and my furnace stopped working. I got up early and uncoupled both propane bottles and set them on the patio outside our travel trailer with the intention of having both bottles filled after 10:00AM when the office opens. I glanced at my watch at about 8:00AM and just a couple minutes later there was a knock out our trailer door and it was one of the owners. He said, "Are you guys getting chilly? Come on and let's get those propane bottles filled." In no time at all he filled both bottles and our furnace was up and running again. He cares about the people that stay at his RV park and cares about doing a good job making guests comfortable - he went above and beyond the call of duty. We will stay here again and again.
A reasonable park - it has primitive river access and the river is flowing despite a lack of rain. There is a salt-water (indoor) pool for the kids. The park is clean - we were there at full occupancy, but almost no "overflow". We wouldn't try it while full. It's a mix of snowbirds, full-time, and weekend campers. Why the bad review? The Junior most owner went on a 2-minute hats-off binge verbally insulting me on some facts that he had wrong. Assuming it was an off day, I came back later and didn't even get an apology despite having the facts cleared up by staff. Before you stay - read the reviews on TripAdvisor & Rvparkreviews (make sure you click on older reviews). If you're considering staying for extended periods, consider talking to other long-time residents there, they can likely give you a more in-depth opinion. I didn't think we've have any problems with any owner or staff, but we did... BTW, Staff was GREAT, it was an owner issue.
