📖 About This Campground
Patrick's Point State Park Campground in Trinidad California offers camping in several designated campgrounds located within this large oceanside park. Agate, Abalone, Penn, Beach Creek, and Red Alder campgrounds all provide various audiences of campers with excellent opportunities to enjoy this lesser known destination.
The park is situated on a bluff with cliffs that drop down to the ocean. There are paths down to the waterside but the ocean is unpredictable and violent in this area; it is advised that you stay out of the water. Alternatively the scenic beaches and amazing tide pools provide alternative oceanside enjoyment and exploration.
Beach Creek and Red Alder Group Camps can each accommodate up to 100 people. A covered cook shelter, picnic tables, and fire pits are provided in group camps, with spigots, restrooms, and coin-operated showers nearby.
Abalone campground is a large camping area able to accommodate RVs up to 31'. Set in a forested setting this campground provides excellent camping options.
Penn Campground is better suited to tent campers (trailers are off-limits). The small loop has a more intimate appeal.
Agate Campground has sites that can fit larger RVs, and the only pull thru in the park. Located in more of a clearing this campground has good spacing between sites with excellent brush separation for privacy.
Located throughout the park are restrooms (some with showers) potable water and miles of hiking trails. Reservations are recommended. Each site has picnic tables and fire rings. Patrick's Point State Park has a nearly constant weather year round with ample rainfall, heavy fog and moderate temperatures; campers should come prepared for wet and/ or damp conditions.
For bike riders along the Pacific Coast there are designated bike/ hike campsites.
