I had a great time camping in the Big Cypress National Preserve. Monument Campground is one of 3 campgrounds in the Preserve. This is primitive camping - no hookups (electric, water, sewer). There is one pit toilet and one bathhouse which does have running water. The camp sites surround the square lake. I saw several alligators in the lake even out on the bank. Lot's of birds. While there I arrived on a clear night and saw soooo many stars, I see why this is a popular star gazing place. The bugs are pretty bad in the evening, but during the day it was pretty windy so not so much. I also took a hike with the Rangers through a Cypress Dome, it was truly an amazing experience.
