Mills Norrie is an old NYS campground whose location is excellent for a variety of things in the Hudson Valley to do. It is just north of Poughkeepsie where you can take the Metro North Train into NYC. It is also in very close proximity to Hyde Park home of The Roosevelt Mansion, Library and Vanderbilt Mansion as well as Val-Kill Eleanor Roosevelt's home. It is also close to Woodstock and New Paltz which are beautiful small upstate New York artsy towns, The campground is right on the Hudson River and at night the sunsets are beautiful over the river. There is a path all along the river which leads to the Mills Mansion. As far as the campground itself it is a place to park. The sites are well worn and most are very small you feel like your on top of one another. Holiday weekends can be very loud. In my humble opinion this park needs to be closed for a few years to get some undergrowth growing so the campground is not so open which would give you some more privacy. They have done some work over the past few years to it but it really needs a lot more. The road in was paved as well as they have a check in booth which they never had. The bathrooms are clean yet they are long overdue for an update. Would I camp here again? That's a maybe. One night is about it. The only reason I ever camped here was do to the area. The Hudson Valley is beautiful. If there was another choice I would take it.
