WOW, another great Georgia State Park. Laura S. Walker campground has beautiful, big immaculately kept sites, only 2 sewer sites, the other 42 only water and electric but there is a dump. There's a separate area for the cottages and another for the primitive campsites, all surrounded by tall pines trees and most of the sites on a beautiful lake that's clear as glass. The lake has a very small swimming area, boat ramp for both motor boats and canoes and kayaks (which are rentable). The interior roads are paved, sites are gravel with a table, fire pit and some have a grill. Playground is nice and there are two dog runs, one for small dogs and another for large dogs, both have baskets full of dog toys. Multiple covered picnic areas with tables and grills and nice big grassy area. There is a group camping area with multiple buildings, a kitchen, worship area. Amphitheatre, nature and hiking trails, laundry, bike and kayak rentals, wildlife observation platform, tiny lending library, small store but well stocked, geocaching, outside fitness area and interpretive center. Adjacent to the campground is the Laura S. Walker golf center, 18 hole golf course with clubhouse and golf pro shop on site. The city of Waycross, GA is 10 miles away with any kind of store you may need. Very, very nice campground. We were there the week before Labor Day and it was very quiet and peaceful, but it started to fill up as the holiday week-end got closer.
