Laramie Plains Lakes Campgrounds

Laramie Plains Lakes Campgrounds 15 miles west of Laramie Wyoming are a series of small fresh water fishing lakes popular for excellent trout fly fishing. A couple of campgrounds/ camping areas are located along and near the shores of the various lakes include Lake Hattie and Twin Buttes. Access to these lakes is via graded gravel roads from either Snowy Range Road on the northside or WY 230 on the southside. Camping is free and on a first come first served basis. Fishing licenses are required to fish. There are boat ramps at each lake allowing for larger motorized watercraft. Located in wide open plains this area is susceptible to strong sustained winds any time of year. Camping areas are normally in the gravel/ dirt lots adjacent the lake, launch ramp and pit toilets. This BLM managed property is a better choice for travelers looking for a free boondocking alternative to the Walmart in town.
