Great campground. High speed internet but poor cell service. Many sites are not very level front to back, requiring some ingenuity to get level. Sites 1-9 are fairly level but the 20's are quite sloped. The road and site surfaces are sandy clay. When wet, traction is poor on the sloping sites and tires will spin and dig grooves in the road. When dry, the roads are fine and do drain/dry quickly. Trails and lake access great. Picnic area wonderful. Well maintained throughout. Clean bath house and laundry facilities (same building). Only one washer and 2 dryers, but most campers were weekenders when we were there, so no problem with availability. Nice location for visiting Itasca SP, Lake Bemidji SP, City of Bemidji.

📖 About This Campground
La Salle Lake State Recreation Area Campground near Solway Minnesota offers full hookup RV and tent camping near the shores of a recreational lake. The camping sites are located along a dirt spur road (one way in and out). All the sites are backins off the dirt road with the site perpendicular to the roadway (versus angled for easier access). Bathrooms with showers are available as are laundry machines. The newest park in the system the facilities are in great shape. Reservations are REQUIRED to camp here and can be made in advance for a fee or on the same day for free (another example of public agencies considering themselves over campers).
La Salle Lake is the deepest inland lake in Minnesota, and one of its most pristine. Guests have access to a swim beach, boat launch and fishing. Canoes and kayaks can be launched in to the waters. Trails meander through the property for hiking.

Very nice alternative to a heavily used Itasca State Park. 5 miles from Itasca and your entry into La Salle also give you access to Itasca. All sites are FHU back in only but plenty of room between sites. Bath/restrooms are super clean and brand new. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table.
