📖 About This Campground

Klahowya Campground near Port Angeles Washington is a US Forest Service Campground (Olympic National Forest) offering primitive and partial hookup (30 amp electric) RV and tent camping in a heavily wooded setting tucked off US 101. Accessed via a short and, when dry, dusty dirt road the campground entrance misleads you into thinking "what am I getting in to". The pretty setting under old growth trees and surrounded by moss provides a relaxing setting adjacent to the Sol Duc River. Two camping loops are available. The first to the right is best for tent and small RVs. Large RVs continue straight and to the left on to the larger loop. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Potable water is available along with restrooms with running water. This popular campground is, surprisingly, all first come first served. A couple short hiking trails are accessible from the campground. Located across US 101 is a segment of the multi-use Olympic Discovery trail. In 2017 and 2018 improvements are scheduled for this campground. The Olympic National Forest has scheduled a series of projects, including drilling a new well to provide potable water to the campground, replacing the double vault toilet, replacing the roof on the flush restrooms and installing 3,560 feet of waterline.
