📖 About This Campground
Jedediah Smith Campground in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park near Crescent City California offers primitive tent and RV camping in a second growth Redwood Forest. With paved roads and a mix of paved or gravel parking pads all of the sites within this campground are situated in a heavily wooded setting.
Often confused as "Redwood National Park" the California Coastal Redwoods in extreme Northern California are managed in a joint partnership between the California State Parks and National Park Service. One of the crown jewel camping destinations Jedediah Smith Redwoods Campground offers a special place to stay.
Just across the river from this campground is one of the largest stands of old growth Redwoods in the world and it is those large trees that form the backdrop for the camping experience. Sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear boxes. Water spigots are dispersed throughout and a dump station is available near the exit.
Easily accessed off US 199 the campground is limited to RVs less than 36' in length and trailers less than 31' in length. These numbers are proper as the campground roads wind through and around very large (and very solid) trees!
Hiking trails, access to the Stout Grove (across the river), and access to the river are popular activities at the park. In addition this campground has a number of cabin rentals available and an onsite visitor center.
