📖 About This Campground

Happy Meadows Campground is a scenic, riverside campsite located along the South Platte River in the Pike-San Isabel National Forest, near Lake George, Colorado. It offers excellent opportunities for fishing, tubing, and hiking, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Directions:
From Lake George, travel west on U.S. Highway 24 to County Road 77. Turn north and continue for approximately 1 mile. Turn east onto County Road 112, and the campground will be on your right after about 1 mile.

  • Campsites: Seven reservable RV campsites.

  • Amenities:

    • Picnic tables

    • Campfire rings

    • Drinking water from a hand pump

    • Vault toilets

  • Facilities: No RV hookups available.

  • Season: Typically open from mid-May to late September, depending on weather conditions.

  • Fees: $24 per night for standard sites; $29 per night for premium sites. An $11 fee applies for a third vehicle or day use if not camping overnight.

  • Fishing: World-class trout fishing in the South Platte River.

  • Tubing: Popular spot for tubing along the river.

  • Road Conditions: County Road 112 is a gravel road; vehicles should be prepared for rough conditions.

  • Cell Service: Limited to no cell phone reception in the area.

  • Weather: Due to high elevation, temperatures can be cooler, and weather conditions can change rapidly.

  • Firewood: Firewood is available for sale at the campground, depending on fire restrictions. Please do not bring firewood from outside the area to prevent the spread of pests.
