Half Shell Resort

Spent one night at Half Shell Campground, 2/10/19. When the reservation was made I asked for 50 amp service and told the person I had a 42 foot diesel pusher motorhome. When I arrived I was told to back into a newly graveled site. It had 50 amp service. The tires sunk into the gravel about 2 inches. When I attempted to pull out early on 2/11 the drive wheels spun in the loose gravel. It was not compacted and the 42,000 pound unit was stuck. When I realized I was stuck I attempted to locate the manager. He was not to be found. I called the number posted in the window of the office. It went to voicemail. A resident told me they had seen him leave the campground. After about an hour he returned. He made no offer to call for a tow or assist in getting us out. I called Coachnet for a tow service. One was dispatched from Ocala and we were finally able to leave around 4 PM for the trip to Polk City. I needed to contact the person on the site behind us to get his pickup and boat/trailer moved so the tow could be from the rear. The manager gave me the contact information for someone on another site. That person knew who was on the site and gave me the name. He was contacted and moved his truck. There was no offer of assistance or help with the payment for the tow. If you have a Big Rig, this place is not recommended. '
