There are two campgrounds in General Coffee State Park with 25 sites each, all pull throughs, all water and electric, no sewer sites. There's also a pioneer campground for large groups. The office or "Trading Post" as they call it, is at the entrance with a small gift shop. You then drive two miles down a windy tree-lined road to the campground. On the way you pass a heritage farm, with historic buildings such as a blacksmith shop, tobacco barn, syrup shed, corn crib, etc. and a petting farm, an archery range, hiking trails, ampitheater, playgrounds, group shelters and picnic areas. Also a canoe rental and boat launch. The sites are all large and well spaced, restrooms close and a small laundry centrally located. Interior roads in campground #2 are paved, but in campground #1 they are gravel or dirt and some of the sites are a bit tighter, even though they are pull-throughs. Sites are gravel. All are shaded by big oak trees. Beautiful, relaxing campground but not much in the surrounding areas. The largest town is Douglas which is about 20 minutes away. It has a Walmart, restaurants, gas stations and shopping.
