We were looking for a getaway with only a few weeks notice with little availability in most GA State parks when I stumbled across this place that had plenty of availability. Turned out to be a real find. Almost all the sites are full hookups, we had a pull through near the front, Site 32. When I discovered this park is just 10 minutes down the road from Providence Canyon State Park (which only has primitive tent camping spots) I was sold on the idea. I wasn't expecting much from Florence Marina but was very pleasantly surprised. It was a really lovely spot, with alligators and dragonflies, fishing for our buddy who joined us, and boating opportunities if you are into that (but do mind the gators!). We spent part of two days exploring Providence Canyon which I'd always wanted to visit, it was really neat if a bit crowded because we had amazing weather that weekend. Do be aware that the floor of the canyon is wet, in some place you're walking in a few inches of water, and I presume more than that is possible if it's been raining a lot. Some of the folks we encountered weren't prepared for that. Your shoes will get wet and dirty so plan on it. We camped at Florence Marina State Park in a Travel Trailer.
