📖 About This Campground

Fisher Grove State Park Campground near Frankfort South Dakota offers partial and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent camping adjacent to the historic river crossing on the James River. Managed by the Fisher Grove Country Club an 18 hole golf course is also onsite at this prairie oasis. Tucked off the highway the state park has paved roads with gravel pads. Mostly backins there are a few pull alongs too. Suitable for any sized RV the sites are relatively level and surrounded by mowed grass. There is a dump station with fresh water fill available. South Dakota State Parks maintains an asinine site reservation process. There is NO first come first served sites allowed. Whether you pull up to get a site that night or book in advance you ARE REQUIRED to call their reservation line or book online. There are additional fees for both. In addition unless you are a South Dakota resident there are additional fees for non-residents. What starts out as a reasonable nightly rate quickly becomes expensive.

Boo boo boo on you South Dakota State Parks. We arrived for an overnight stay but were forced to call in to their reservation phone number to get the site. They wanted a $2 reservation fee just for that. No thanks. So then I tried reserving via their website... $8 out of state fee. So in the end they wanted over $30 for an electric only backin RV site. No thanks. If you are a SD resident then this place is fine otherwise I recommend moving on down the road. Verizon 4G was decent. RV sites are large. Pretty area.
