📖 About This Campground
DuPuis Management Area Campsites near Canal Point Florida is a Florida Water Management District Property that offers 21,875-acre multi-use natural area located in northwestern Palm Beach and southwestern Martin counties. The property is interspersed with numerous ponds, wet prairies, cypress domes, pine flatwoods and remnant Everglades marsh. The area provides miles of hiking and horseback trails, an equestrian center, graded vehicle roads, backpack and group campsites and seasonal hunting. DuPuis is far from urban areas, and its dark night sky lends itself to excellent stargazing.
There is no fee for camping in DuPuis. There is no need to call ahead to make reservations, except for Group Campground. The campsites are filled on a first come, first-served basis.
Family Campground - You can get to the family campground by entering DuPuis
through Gate 1; this road is Jim Lake Grade. The sign for the Family Campground is
approximately 1 mile down on the left side of the road. There are 16 campsites. At
each campsite there is a picnic table and a fire ring. There is no potable water
available and there are two composting toilets located at the campground.
Group Campground - There is a group camping site off the DuPuis Grade. The site
is not far from the fishing pier. The Group Campground is for groups of 15 people or
more. Reservations are needed for group camping. For group camping, you'll need a
special-use license. Go to www.sfwmd.gov/recreation, complete the permit and
e-mail it or send it to the South Florida Water Management District, DuPuis
Management Area, 23500 SW Kanner Highway, Canal Point, FL 33438, or call the
DuPuis office at 561-924-5310 for information on reservations.
Equestrian Campground - The equestrian campground is located at Gate 3
location. Camping with a tent or a recreational vehicle permitted. Primitive camping
facilities include a shower, restrooms, public pay phones, 30 stalls and 15 paddocks.
No water or electrical hook-up provided.
Primitive Campsites - All are accessible via the hiking trail. The hiking trail
entrance is located at Gate 2 location. There are three primitive campsites located
along the hiking trail. The first is located on the east side of loop two; the second is
at the south end of loop four; the third is about three miles into the Corbett Trail at
the south end of DuPuis.
