📖 About This Campground

Devils Tower National Monument Belle Fourche Campground in Devils Tower Wyoming provides primitive tent and RV camping adjacent to the famous landmark and within the grounds of the National Monument. Seasonally open the campsites are all on a first come first served basis. A  scenic camping area with paved roads, gravel sites and grass tree surrounds each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Multiple restrooms are located throughout the area with running water and flush toilets (no showers). Each site is a "pull thru" site with plenty of room for even large RVs. There is decent separation between sites but no privacy. The campground is immediately adjacent to a Prairie Dog Town with trails that get you close and cross through their habit. Bordered on two sides by the Belle Fouche River the campground is situated on a flat plan with large cottonwood trees. Belle Fourche Campground IS NOT near the visitor center complex (located on the opposite side of Devils Tower) but trails are available to hike there, a really good and hard hike. During the peak summer season the campground fills often by about 3PM. Camphosts are located on site to aid and provide information. About 1 mile away just outside the entrance kiosk are private campgrounds and businesses providing food, supplies and showers. Within walking distance is a nice amphitheater for fireside chats and special events. See another video of the RV park/ Campground

This campground was an unexpected pleasure for us. We pulled in late, about 7.30pm, in our 26' travel trailer, on a Wednesday in July, and drove straight into a lovely pull-through site with views of the tower. The campground has a lot of mature trees, but they are sporadic, so there are lots of sites with views of the monument, which is an added bonus. The site was very large and level, with a fire ring and picnic bench and a lot of space around. There are flush toilets and power points in the restrooms, but no showers. There are water spigots around. There are some nice trails around the monument and the further you get away from the tower itself, the quieter the trails are. There's also a prairie dog town right near the campground, so that's a nice trail. We attended a ranger talk at the campground amphitheatre, which was very interesting. Cost was $12 a night, which we thought was great value, and they only take cash or cheque. It was a very peaceful place, with some great birds (red headed woodpecker, northern flicker), and dark skies at night. There is also a nice mix of big rigs, smaller campers, and tents. Worth noting is that there is no dump station, and while the KOA allows you to pay a fee to use off season, when we were there in July they said we couldn't use it, even for a fee. We therefore found another at a rest area just outside Sundance - this was free so that would be our tip.
