Crooked River State Park is a beautiful Georgia state park 15 minutes from St. Marys, GA, a quaint little town where you can take a ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore. There are 62 sites, mostly water and electric, but there is a dump. Some sites have a sewer hookup. All the sites are huge, back-ins and pull-thrus. They are all surrounded by tall pine trees. Multiple playgrounds, restrooms, bird blinds, group shelters, walking trails and picnic tables throughout the park. There's a boat ramp with a nearby bait shop that has access to the river for boating or fishing. A small gift shop in the office and a big nature center with fish, turtles, snakes, reptiles and a very knowledgeable ranger on site. The interior roads are paved, the sites are gravel with a cement pad for the picnic table and fire pit. Small laundry and small book exchange. There are 11 cabins, all with a view of either the marsh or the river, all fully equipped and with cable TV. Separate tent area and primitive camping area. Well equipped outdoor exercise center, mini golf. Golf carts allowed. This will be one of our go-back-to campgrounds in the future.
